Interested in Testing Out of a Course? Grand Ledge High School offers students a testing out process once a year over the summer months. Students may choose to test out of an MMC required course to further their scheduling options throughout their years of high school. This means a student can earn credit for a course without taking the class, as long as they can show they already understand the content. Students register to test out of a course they believe they have already mastered. Students must exhibit mastery of the course content by attaining a grade of at least 78%, C+ on a comprehensive final assessment/paper/lab as required for individual courses. Credits earned through the test out process will count towards graduation. Read more...
AP Testing Information 2026 AP Exams are on May 4th-8th and May 11th-15th. For students taking AP exams, check the 2026 AP Exam FAQ Sheet for important information on when and where your test will be administered. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Karrer (karrerc@glcomets.net).
Students Supporting Local Businesses We currently have an “open-campus” for our 10th-12th grade students. This allows our students to leave the school to access other food options, including local restaurants. It is great to support our local businesses because they find various ways to support our students and our programs.
As customers of local businesses, and representatives of Grand Ledge High School, PLEASE be sure to exhibit good behavior at all times, but especially during lunch times. Good behavior includes, but is not limited to cleaning our lunch mess, following business protocols, using appropriate language and voices, and driving safely. THANK YOU for helping up support local businesses appropriately, and allowing us to maintain our open campus option for students!!
Students - Thank You for Reporting Concerns!! We were able to address a concern quickly this week due to students recognizing a concern and reporting it immediately. We appreciate you and your willingness to help us resolve negative situations!
If you encounter a non-urgent concern that should be addressed by the school, you can speak with someone in the office or you can fill out the Student Concern Reporting Form.
For urgent, emergency, or safety concerns - please contact an adult immediately. You can go to the office, find a classroom teacher, you can call the office at 517-925-5815, or you can also call 911 if no adults are readily available.
District Wide Art Show Please join us in celebrating the incredible student artists of Grand Ledge Public Schools!
Our district-wide art show showcases creative work from students in grades BK–12. The exhibit will be on display throughout the entire month of May in the auditorium lobby at Grand Ledge High School. It will be open to the public during after-school event hours.
We invite you to a special reception on May 13th from 6 to 7pm, where you can experience the artwork up close, celebrate our talented artists, and enjoy a variety of activities—including face painting, photo opportunities, pottery painting, and artwork available for purchase.
Saturday School Dates for 3rd Trimester Attendance Matters - what is Saturday School at GLHS and when might a student need to attend? Attendance is an essential component to a student's academic success. Often, the number of days that students are absent accumulate without them realizing how name days have been missed.
If a student reaches 7 absences in any class per trimester without documentation, they may lose credit and the privilege to participate in extracurricular activities, including school dances. The student would then be encouraged to attend Saturday School with our Deans of Students to work on school assignments to ensure credit.
Saturday School runs from 8:00am – 11:00am in the Media Center. The remaining dates for 3rd Trimester Saturday School at GLHS are:
May 16 (last SS for seniors) May 30 (last SS for 9th/10th/11th grade students)

Educational Development Plans (EDPs) Grand Ledge Public Schools utilizes Xello, a comprehensive K-12 platform that prepares students for the modern economy. Through interactive activities, students build self-awareness, explore diverse career options, and develop the critical skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.
Xello is the platform students use to build and update their Educational Development Plan (EDP). This "living document" is a requirement of the Michigan Career Development Model (MCDM) and serves as a personalized roadmap for their academic and career future.
Student ownership is the goal, but family support is the foundation. We encourage you to talk to your students about their Educational Development Plan (EDP) and how they are using Xello to prepare for their future. Parents/Guardians can utilize a Xello Family Account to stay connected. Click the link below to learn more, and reach out to Mrs. Dykstra at dykstrak@glcomets.net to set up a Xello Family account. Board of Water & Light 1st Step Program - Student Presentation (Juniors only) on May 7th in the GLHS Media Center The First Step program is a School to Training and Employment Program that gives Lansing-area high school seniors a work-based learning experience and an opportunity to obtain the skills to enter the workforce. This opportunity can lead to full-time employment and a career at BWL. Students that are accepted into the BWL 1st Step program will be hired in paid Co-op positions for the second and third trimester of their senior year (typically 1st & 2nd hour). Click HERE for more information.
Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) LCC Orientation - May 26th There will be a mandatory LCC orientation on Tuesday, May 26th during C3 and 5th hour for students planning to take an Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) class at Lansing Community College (LCC) next year. This includes Automotive Technology, Construction, Criminal Justice, Digital Media & Design, Health Technology, Law Enforcement, Machining & Manufacturing, Sports Medicine and Welding Technology. Students should bring their charged device to the high school Cafeteria at the beginning of C3 on this day.
The purpose of this event is to complete the Lansing Community College application. This is necessary for students to take the CPC class and to be awarded college credits. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the CPC for next year. This event is only for students that have been accepted into a class at the CPC that is taught at LCC for fall 2026. As a reminder, students must complete all required orientation activities or they risk losing their spot in the class. This includes the required Educational Development Plan (EDP) update in Xello (this must be complete for this school year, and will need to be updated again next year). Please contact Mrs. Dykstra at dykstrak@glcomets.net if you have questions. Click here for CPC Information
Blessings in a Backpack - Grand Ledge Students needing additional food at home can participate in the Grand Ledge Blessings in a Backpack program. For students attending school in-person, a bag of nourishing, kid-friendly food can be picked up at Student Services at the end of each week during the school year (except during school breaks.) Examples of some of the food items distributed are: macaroni and cheese, canned vegetables, soup, oatmeal, granola bars, fruit cups, and beef ravioli.
