Interested in Testing Out of a Course?
Grand Ledge High School offers students a testing out process once a year over the summer months. Students may choose to test out of an MMC required course to further their scheduling options throughout their years of high school. This means a student can earn credit for a course without taking the class, as long as they can show they already understand the content. Students register to test out of a course they believe they have already mastered. Students must exhibit mastery of the course content by attaining a grade of at least 78%, C+ on a comprehensive final assessment/paper/lab as required for individual courses. Credits earned through the test out process will count towards graduation. Read more...

District Wide Art Show
Please join us in celebrating the incredible student artists of Grand Ledge Public Schools! Our district-wide art show showcases creative work from students in grades BK–12. The exhibit will be on display throughout the entire month of May in the auditorium lobby at Grand Ledge High School. It will be open to the public during after-school event hours.

Saturday School Dates for 3rd Trimester
Attendance Matters - what is Saturday School at GLHS and when might a student need to attend? Attendance is an essential component to a student's academic success. Often, the number of days that students are absent accumulate without them realizing how name days have been missed.

If a student reaches 7 absences in any class per trimester without documentation, they may lose credit and the privilege to participate in extracurricular activities, including school dances. The student would then be encouraged to attend Saturday School with our Deans of Students to work on school assignments to ensure credit.

Saturday School runs from 8:00am – 11:00am in the Media Center. The remaining dates for 3rd Trimester Saturday School at GLHS are:

May 16 (last SS for seniors)
May 30 (last SS for 9th/10th/11th grade students)

2026-2027 School Year
The Board of Education approved the school calendar for next school year.  Here is the 2026-2027 GLPS District Calendar!  It is a 2-page pdf. The first page provides a visual overview, and the second page lists the specifics. We hope this is helpful in your planning.

Please note - Orientation Days for the high school are scheduled for August 17th and August 18th. It will be similar to years past, however, August 18th from 8am-11am is our GLPS / All Staff District Kickoff at the high school. The Main Office, Student Services, the New Gym downstairs, and the Auditorium will be closed at that time to allow for our meetings. Students / Families may walk through the building during this time, but there will not be anyone to assist in the offices.

Building Access After School Hours
Please be sure to coordinate rides at the end of the school day. Students are only allowed to be in the building after 3:15 for organized activities, supervised by a teacher, advisor, or coach. Students who are involved in those activities must also stay in the designated area for those activities, and cannot wander the building. Students waiting for rides must wait in the front lobby or outside, and should not engage in any horseplay. Students not adhering to these guidelines may be asked to leave the building.

Educational Development Plans (EDPs)
Grand Ledge Public Schools utilizes Xello, a comprehensive K-12 platform that prepares students for the modern economy. Through interactive activities, students build self-awareness, explore diverse career options, and develop the critical skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.

Xello is the platform students use to build and update their Educational Development Plan (EDP). This "living document" is a requirement of the Michigan Career Development Model (MCDM) and serves as a personalized roadmap for their academic and career future.

Student ownership is the goal, but family support is the foundation. We encourage you to talk to your students about their Educational Development Plan (EDP) and how they are using Xello to prepare for their future.  Parents/Guardians can utilize a Xello Family Account to stay connected.  Click the link below to learn more, and reach out to Mrs. Dykstra at dykstrak@glcomets.net to set up a Xello Family account.   Xello Family Account

Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) LCC Orientation - May 26th
There will be a mandatory LCC orientation on Tuesday, May 26th during C3 and 5th hour for students planning to take an Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) class at Lansing Community College (LCC) next year.  This includes Automotive Technology, Construction, Criminal Justice, Digital Media & Design, Health Technology, Law Enforcement, Machining & Manufacturing, Sports Medicine and Welding Technology.  Students should bring their charged device to the high school Cafeteria at the beginning of C3 on this day.

The purpose of this event is to complete the Lansing Community College application.  This is necessary for students to take the CPC class and to be awarded college credits.  Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the CPC for next year.  This event is only for students that have been accepted into a class at the CPC that is taught at LCC for fall 2026.  As a reminder, students must complete all required orientation activities or they risk losing their spot in the class.  This includes the required Educational Development Plan (EDP) update in Xello (this must be complete for this school year, and will need to be updated again next year).  Please contact Mrs. Dykstra at dykstrak@glcomets.net if you have questions.  Click here for CPC Information

Blessings in a Backpack - Grand Ledge
Students needing additional food at home can participate in the Grand Ledge Blessings in a Backpack program. For over a decade, this program has provided bags of food for weekend meals at no cost to hundreds of students in the Grand Ledge area. For students attending school in-person, a bag of nourishing, kid-friendly food can be picked up at Student Services at the end of each week during the school year (except during school breaks.) Examples of some of the food items distributed are: macaroni and cheese, canned vegetables, soup, oatmeal, granola bars, fruit cups, and beef ravioli. If you would like to receive a bag of food for weekends, please contact Jennifer VandenBosch at vandenboschj@glcomets.net or stop into Student Services.
